1.3. Participating fireworks teams at DIFF 2026
DIFF 2026 continues to demonstrate its international appeal by bringing together 10 fireworks teams from nine countries and territories to compete along the Han River. This is considered one of the festival’s most diverse editions, featuring a broad range of artistic styles—from advanced pyrotechnic techniques to emotionally driven musical storytelling.
This year’s participating teams include:
- Vietnam
- China
- Italy
- Germany
- Portugal
- France
- Japan
- Macau (China)
- Australia
Vietnam will be represented by two competing teams during this year’s festival. Notably, DIFF 2026 marks the first appearance of teams from Australia, Germany, France, and Macau (China). These newcomers are expected to introduce fresh creative approaches and distinctive performance styles, enriching the artistic diversity of the Han River fireworks festival.
2. What makes DIFF 2026 even more exciting?
2.1. Sky AR technology and a multi-dimensional light stage
One of the most significant innovations at DIFF 2026 is the festival’s major investment in advanced visual technologies, transforming the Han River into an immersive entertainment space.
In addition to the traditional fireworks performances, this year’s festival introduces Sky AR, allowing spectators to interact directly with the fireworks-filled sky through their mobile devices.
Through this technology, viewers can experience expanded visual effects that blend seamlessly with the real fireworks displays above, creating a more immersive and emotional experience during each competition night. This is also one of the reasons why DIFF 2026 is being recognized as the most interactive and technologically advanced edition of the festival to date.

Sky AR technology allows audiences to interact directly with the fireworks-filled sky through their mobile devices.
In addition to Sky AR, a multi-layer Laser LED system projected along the Han River and surrounding riverside buildings helps transform central Da Nang into a giant stage of light throughout the festival season. Synchronized with real-time music, these lighting effects give each fireworks night its own distinctive character, creating the feeling of stepping into a multi-dimensional artistic performance in the heart of the coastal city.
2.2. DIFF’s first-ever giant arch stage on the Han River
One of the reasons DIFF 2026 is generating so much excitement is its completely redesigned stage, which is the largest ever constructed in the festival’s history. For the first time, DIFF will feature a massive kinetic arch structure measuring more than 40 meters wide and over 10 meters high at the center of the stage, creating a dramatic visual landmark along the Han River.
According to the organizers, this year’s stage design draws inspiration from the idea of horizons coming together to connect cultures, time, and emotions. The entire structure consists of three architectural layers with curved lines inspired by connecting bridges, creating a design that is both modern and highly artistic.
Spanning a total width of approximately 100 meters, the stage area has been expanded to provide better viewing angles for audiences across different seating sections. The main performance zone measures roughly 50 meters wide and covers nearly 1,200 square meters, allowing DIFF 2026 to deliver large-scale productions that combine fireworks, music, and multi-layer performance effects.
The most distinctive feature is the system of five kinetic arches, which can operate independently or move in synchronization in real time. The central arches can rise and descend in less than 70 seconds, creating seamless scene transitions throughout the performances. As a result, each show at DIFF 2026 feels like a dynamic stage production with multiple layers of continuously evolving visual space.
2.3. Fireworks nights combined with live concert experiences
DIFF 2026 also introduces the concept of a fireworks mega-concert, featuring a large-scale stage and appearances by prominent artists. Each competition night is designed not only as a fireworks contest between nations but also as a multi-hour entertainment experience along the Han River, blending music, performance art, and spectacular fireworks into a single event.
